![]() After seeing the Emergency Room, we took a walking tour and divided up onto different floors to observe a nurse for a few hours. I wouldn’t be surprised if I were exposed. There was a tuberculosis patient next to the other patients (I know those nurses out there are cringing). Charts were posted on the walls behind the beds, and it just seemed crowded. Walking into the Emergency Room, there were 14 official beds, but then at least 30 more beds lining the halls of the hospital. Let me just say, it was nothing like any hospital I’ve ever seen in the US. And oh, by the way, it’s FREE. Yep, I said it… FREE. This is a public hospital here in Mexico which is owned by the government. The first hospital we visited was ISSSTE. ![]() I was going to write about it then, but I decided to wait until we visited the other hospital to make a comparison. About three weeks ago, the nurses had their first visit to a hospital here in Mérida. ![]()
